I am so grateful to the 8 participants who signed up and threw themselves into the magical world of printmaking with me. It was a great group of people, who have become my comparison point for all future classes.

Together we made:

Kitchen lithograph print
2 linocut prints
Silkscreen prints

It was a big learning curve for me, in terms of putting together a course syllabus, creating weekly handouts, packing and prepping for a different type of printmaking every week, and time management. I now feel confident in creating new, more in-depth classes for each type of printmaking, which will allow participants to explore their preferred print medium.

Extremely grateful to the @langleyartscouncil for the opportunity to have some of my relief prints available for rent through their new Art and Sales Rental program.

Tonight at the launch party, I found out that 6/8 of my pieces have been rented out to @tinhorncreek! I look forward to seeing them hung up at the vineyard!!

Although it looks like it was just @alana_evans_art and me, it was a great turn out with lots of lovely people at the opening. I'm glad I didn't let my anxiety talk me out of going tonight!

Now that I know the process, I am really looking forward to spending more time creating a design that will actually work with intaglio printing. This print was made quickly in class as a sample, and printing was done to test how different paper would print.

It's been really humbling and inspiring working with different print media over the last few weeks with my class at @pdacoquitlam.

Phil and I have been watching Alone, and this one landscape shot was so beautiful that I took a screen shot(swipe to see). I haven't spent much time watercolour painting lately, and thought I would give it a go. It's not great, it's not bad, it is what it is. Need to practice.

This project was made for my printmaking class @pdacoquitlam so my students have more space to dry their prints.

I got the plywood for free from a place in Maple Ridge with @philprajoux. They leave their off cuts outside, and the shelves were pieces I already had. It took somewhere between 4-6 hours following no plan but the idea in my mind. I got confused at the end when I was trimming the shelf lengths and I cut on the wrong side of the line, which made the shelves a little loose instead of snug. When I have time, I will look to see if I've got enough material to cut new shelves. Until then, these 2 drying racks are coming with me to class tonight!

Using lego is a great budget friendly way to explore relief printing. You can often find mixed bags of it at thrift stores and the combination of designs are endless.

For this trial, I went with a city scape. I wanted to see if the height of the LEGO would fit through the press and it did.

After hours of research, I found a spray paint that will adhere to galvanized steel and I am so delighted with the result. I went with @krylonbrand fusion all in one spray paint with a hammered black finish. The result is a slightly shimmery black with some texture. It suits the piece and I am so thrilled!

This is not a collaboration with Krylon, but if I keep using the product and gain enough followers, maybe it could be! If you're looking for a spray paint that will stick to difficult surfaces, give Fusion all in one a try!!

Being accepted the the ArtsPacific show has given me the push to get this piece finished and renewed my desire to pursue metal sculpting.

I ask myself why am I so stiff and sore all the time...this Molly, this is why.

I don't know how much this weighs, but I know that my very strong husband, @philprajoux who weight lifts 6x a week, also struggled to lift this off the table for me when I was finished adding that base piece.

Thankful to @twinrinksphysiotherapy for working on my shoulder tendons. I have definitely overdone it the last few days and appreciate the care and exercise routine to work on being pain free!

New skill unlocked - Heart butt.

This was done using embroidery thread and a weaving technique, and then finished with a basket stitch. I don't know if it will last, but I love the result! Kind of want to put one on the bottom of all my pants, even if they don't need it!

Experimenting with collage for an upcoming car show/market in Fort Langley September 14th.

I haven't been posting much lately and here's why:

✅Progress can be slow and there's nothing new to share.
✅AI content has got me feeling all sorts of emotions towards sharing my work online and none of them are positive.
✅I've been prioritizing other aspects of my life.
✅Burnout.

I find creating content exhausting and found that it ruins my joy of making art. I end up with so much anxiety, worrying about what to say about my work that I become paralyzed. I am filled with fear of failure and rejection. After putting countless hours filming and editing videos to share on social media, to have little engagement and often unfollowed by people each post. That time could instead be used to create more work, unbound by anxiety of rejection, creating because I must. Because making is in my soul. It's what I'm meant to do. I am not meant to constantly be setting up camera angles and recording things, to sit on my phone editing videos, trying to be clever and witty. I am here to work with my hands. Create what I see. Live in the present and just be.

I had such a great time last night making art at @snaginthevalley last night and I am super excited to explore more reduction printing.

On another note, I've been struggling alot with overwhelm lately so I am going to try a social media detox and see if that helps me reset. I feel weird announcing it, but I've realized how much time I spend endlessly scrolling for no reason and how much it is affecting my well being. Hopefully a few days off will give me some clarity on how I can move forward using Instagram without having it suck up my time.

I had such a great time last night making art at @snaginthevalley last night and I am super excited to explore more reduction printing.

On another note, I've been struggling alot with overwhelm lately so I am going to try a social media detox and see if that helps me reset. I feel weird announcing it, but I've realized how much time I spend endlessly scrolling for no reason and how much it is affecting my well being. Hopefully a few days off will give me some clarity on how I can move forward using Instagram without having it suck up my time.

Tonight I tackled a 3-colour reduction print(which I've never done before) in just 3.5hours!! I printed an edition of 8 on paper as well as 6 t-shirts. The first edition and 5 t-shirts were taken home by raffle winners, and I met some really nice people.

A couple of my original mini watercolours and ink found new homes too!! What a great night.

I'm excited to announce that starting starting mid-October I will be teaching a beginner printmaking course at @pdacoquitlam!

Over 8 weeks, participants will learn and explore different types of printmaking with a focus on materials that can be found at home. Types of printmaking will include: collography(pictured above), etching(tetrapack printing), lithography(kitchen), and relief printing(with styrofoam and rubber).

More details will be available closer to the date. For now, I am making up a bunch of print samples.

A new day, a new boiled down plant or two.

I used pink camellia petals and long wild grass today. I boiled them in water with alum as a mordant for about an hour and then strained into jar with another teaspoon of alum in each.

I'm guessing it will take a few weeks for the water to dissipate to leave me with the pigments but only time will tell.

Hey it's been a while since I've shared a reel. With everything that's been going on globally and close to home, I've not been feeling up to sharing much.

I noticed I have lost a fair number of followers recently, I'm guessing due to inactivity, or maybe what I have been sharing on my stories has been uninteresting. Who knows?

To be frank, I haven't been recording my process, or really completing anything art wise. I have been focusing on applying to opportunities and getting nothing but rejection. I have been working here and there on various things but overall felt like I have nothing of interest to share.

Do I give up? Leave my pursuit of art behind me and focus on something more tangible? Or do I persist and continue this seemingly never ending slog of rejection with occassional small victory?

As the last hour of 2024 ticks by, I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the growth this year has brought, as well as the cherished memories with loved ones.

Highlights include:

- Having the courage to apply to more opportunities than I've ever done before.
This led to my first art residency with @thecityofabbotsford, two solo art exhibitions with @cityofpoco and @pdacoquitlam, participating in a group show with @langleyartscouncil and the Landscape competition, and winning a design contest for @fortlangleyjazzfest

- learning how to make sourdough bread thanks to @carmalarm giving me some of her starter

- now have 68 linocut birds for my Avifauna, to-scale bird print series

- having @philprajoux 's French cousins come stay with us for a visit. It was absolutely amazing to see them after 8 years, and getting to meet their kids

- passing my French B1 exam! This was the last thing I needed to start the application process to become a French citizen! I still have a bunch of paperwork to do but it's in the works!

- raising two kittens from the age of two weeks. The sleepless nights were well worth it seeing my Mom have nightly snuggles with the them. They are her cats now, but I will always be their surrogate meowther

- various linocut demonstrations

- paricipated in a live painting auction thanks to @embermuninnart

- starting @funnyfriendsart with my bff. This is an art project to create silly and fun artwork intended to make people smile and celebrate lasting friendship. We have an exhibit/art residency in March that I'll share more about soon.

- going to Revelstoke to celebrate our friends marriage! Congratulations again @gmackenzie11 and @aeheeps

- fabricated a gate with hinges on my own and welded a repair job on my Dad's excavator

- completing my first metal sculpture and starting my second. This has been a dream of mine for a while and I've finally made time to pursue it.

I have so much more to say but it's almost midnight so I'll leave it here.
