Metal Work - 2023 - Present
After participating in "Women of Steel" at the University of the Fraser Valley in 2023, I have been building a home workshop to start sculpting in steel. I am thrilled to announce that the workshop is in order and I completed my first sculpture. Below you will find a sampling of what I have created. I have so many ideas buzzing around my brain and I look forward to creating bigger, and bigger as my skills grow.

Community Engagement 2019 - Present
Abbotsford Artist-in-Residence 2024 - Social Connection and Well-Being.
I started working in community engaged arts when I was a BC Culture Days ambassador in 2019. I hosted several printmaking workshops and activities in Langley and Vancouver. In 2024 I had the wonderful opportunity to connect with the Abbotsford Community through a series of art engagements designed to be able to be enjoyed by all ages and abilities. Here are photos fro a selection of the engagements. About the residency (taken from the City of Abbotsford website under Artist-in-residence 2024): "October marked the conclusion of the overwhelmingly successful 2024 Artist in Residence program with local artist, Molly Gray. Molly’s residency was produced in partnership with City of Abbotsford Community Services and successfully achieved the outcome of providing opportunities for community connection between older adults, youth, and families. The artist’s innovative use of public space and incorporation of community partnerships was essential in delivering these experiences. Program partners included Healthy Aging Abbotsford, Abbotsford Youth Commission, Replay Boardshop, and Clearbrook Library. Between May and October of 2024, Molly facilitated sixteen community art making making sessions at locations around the City, and participated in City programs and events including Go Play Outside, Canada Day, and 55+ Learning Plus. Over 1,500 participants attended these sessions, which provided a diverse range of interactive activities including: - Collaborative painting projects - Personal storytelling and journaling - Art and movement demonstrations - Custom greeting card creation - Watercolour painting - Custom sticker making - Button making - Printmaking demonstrations

Acrylic - 2008 - Present
I can't believe it, but I have been painting with acrylic paints for over 20 years. Below are two of my favourite series I have created to-date, as well as some of my favourite commissions and one-of works. Robots through History was a series my brother commissioned from me after I graduated from University. I decided to create a second similar series titled Selfies through Art History as a way to a) poke fun at selfie culture at the time and b) to be able to create a series that documented my aging over the years. My original intention was to create a single painting a year but I am somewhere between 5-10 paintings behind.

Printmaking - 2016 - Present
After participating in "Women of Steel" at the University of the Fraser Valley in 2023, I have been building a home workshop to start sculpting in steel. I am thrilled to announce that the workshop is in order and I completed my first sculpture. Below you will find a sampling of what I have created. I have so many ideas buzzing around my brain and I look forward to creating bigger, and bigger as my skills grow.

Watercolour - 2000 - Present
I have been experimenting with watercolour since I was a child and this is where my watercolour style has ended up. I often add ink to my watercolour pieces as I find it adds an illustrative quality which I enjoy.

Commissions 2017 - Present
These are some of my favourite commissions. Interested in a commission? Find more information here.

Textiles - 2017 - 2020
When I first got into printmaking I started printing on baby onesies as many of my friends were having children and it made for great unique gifts. This quickly evolved to me going to markets to sell my hand-printed wares. I printed on adult t-shirts, onesies, teatowels, napkins, and totebags. Then I got into sewing my own products, like pillows and zipper pouches, and creating custom baby quilts. This all happened pre-covid and after covid I decided to focus on printmaking for fine art. I still enjoy printing on fabric and sewing from time-to-time, but it's mostly for gifts only. The amount of work it takes to sew and print a single item, it just doesn't make any cents.
